  1. I worked with Jeannie as summer lifeguards at Memorial pool in Springfield, IL. Not only was she beautiful but I always cherished our breaks when she would pull her guitar to the top of the diving tower and test out her latest songs for me. I loved listening to her every day as well as just watching her sing especially at the end of the day with the sun setting to the west.

I know she is still singing.

  2. Hi I have her Green Bean Jean album (record) but would really like to get is on CD or even MP3 Can you tell me how to find it>

    1. Hi Patrick. Thanks for asking!! We love hearing about the original vinyl albums out there. I’m going to give your email address to Diane, Jean’s sister, and she’ll contact you about the CD. I think we still have some Green Bean Jean CDs but I’m not sure and Diane is in charge of the inventory. All the best and thanks again for asking.

      1. Would love to get a copy of Green Bean Jean CD. My friend had the LP and we listened to it constantly in the early 80’s until she moved.

  3. I also have the Green Bean Jean album, and would like to get a CD. I saw here in person first at a restaurant/bar in Mammoth and then at the Mammoth Summer Festival. In fact, went up that weekend, especially to see her. LOVED her music and lyrics. Thanks.

    1. I image I am younger than most of the fans that heard her live. I was truly a child when I heard her sing at the Sierra Summer Festival in Mammoth Lakes. My mother was involved in organizing the event to some degree, though I don’t actually know just how. We had her album, I guess her only one, which was a clear green acrylic album as I recall. Kind of hard to forget really, as it was the only one of its kind I’ve ever seen. Unfortunately, it has vanished over the years. Anyway, I’d like to get a copy of whatever you have on CD or any other format. Not sure what it was exactly about her voice or her songs that struck a chorde with me, but it was haunting, really, though in a good way. I would like to hear her sing again. I would also like to have my daughter hear her sing, because, for some reason, her songs meant so much to me in my childhood.

  4. I was a fan of Jean from the High Sierra days when I lived in June Lake. I use to have a copy of the Green Bean Jean album, but it got lost somewhere along the way. I have never forgotten her music and am so glad I just decided to do a search to see if I could find a recording of her music. I am so glad you have this page and that Jean’s beautiful voice is still accessible. Her vocal abilities have no equal. Can’t wait to receive the recording I just ordered and to be able to hear that voice again.

  5. I met Jean when I was 15 years old, I fell in love with her beautiful spirit . . she was my freind and I was to be her roadie. She inspired me to do my best. Our oldest daughter carries her name. I will always keep my memories of Jean close to my heart.

  6. Oh my – i’m stunned right now. I was 17 and lived across from Jean on Moonstone; she was on the north side, me on the south, and she’d sit and sing from her balcony. The first time I heard her I was floored. Heard her a number of times around town, and remember the song I thought was called High Sierra. Same night heard her sing Jolene and will never forget it. I’m now 57 years old, and have unsuccessfully searched for any of Jean’s music. In shock a bit right now – have thought about her so many times over the years, amazed I remembered her name but she was such an incredible talent she stuck in my memory. Heard Jolene tonight randomly, decided once again to see if she’s anywhere in Google land and found this site. Please contact me so i can purchase her music – this is incredible to me. So very glad I found this site after 40 years.

    1. Hi Eugenia. I found your comment here on the website and was wondering if we ever got you a copy of the CD we have. Did you receive it?? Wil

  7. Woke up this morning singing High Sierra. I just knew that Jean was singing to me today. Makes me happy to remember her yet sad that I won’t see her, in person, again.

  8. Is this the Jean I used to go see at a club at the Long Beach Marina in CA?! She sang a song about a bathrobe her mother made for her–her beautiful songs still haunt me. Is there a CD?

    1. Hi Ruby. We have CDs of some live performances from Jean. Let me know if you are interested and thanks for commenting on this website! Wil

  9. Just wanted to say this is a beautiful tribute to your sister. I knew Jeanne back in the ISU days, even before Head East. This brought back some great memories of those days. She was a beautiful person.

    1. Hi Dick. Thanks for saying “hi”. I’m pretty slow at responding to comments on this website but we are glad you found it. All the best! Wil

  10. Jeannie was a beloved friend during our ISU days and beyond. She sang at my wedding and everyone was blown away. As young colleges girls we were a gang(roommates) of 6-7 very tight friends. She was a light to all who were lucky enough to have known her. I think of her nearly every day. So thrilled to find this memorial. There will never be another quite like Jeannie❤

  11. I’m in shock to find this site! I was a friend and roommate with Jeannie during her ISU days and beyond, part of a group of very tight group of girlfriends. Jeannie sand at my wedding and mesmerized everyone. She was a happy, warm, talented and loving soul. I miss her very very much. Such a reward to hear her beautiful voice once again and relive a magical place in time. She gave me her Green Jean Bean album and we celebrated the achievement she dreamed of for so long. It was 1974 and The last time we were able to visit in person before her accident.

    1. Correction: Received her album from one of Jeannie ‘s family members awhile after her death. My last visit with her was 1974

  12. Don’t know what made me think of Jean today and google her name. I met Jean while working at the Brittany Restaurant in Bloomington, Il. I remember the night she met McLean and also the night we had a party to watch her on the Tonight Show. Diane, her sister, was a roommate of mine right before I moved to Maui in 1976. Both wonderful ladies. Hope you are doing well, Diane….this was a wonderful tribute.

    1. Hi Laura!
Thank you so much for contacting us and finding Jean’s website! We agree with you, there will never be another singer entertainer like her! It was so sad to lose her.
Did you go by Lori when I lived with you? My memories aren’t the greatest from that time of my life! When I moved to California with Jean, my life began again!
Would you like a cd of her songs? I’d be happy to send you one.
Just message me back with your address. All is great with me and thank you for asking! Do you still live in Hawaii?
      All the best to you!!

      1. Yes, I went by my nickname Laurie until I moved to Maui. I live in Florida now. I stay in touch with Kathy Wolgamott who lived in Minneapolis. Jeannie was wearing Kathy’s dress when she appeared on the Tonight Show. Kathy has her green album. I think she got it when she visited her in California in 1976 I think it was 1976. I would love a CD. I’ll play it for my two sons and my five grandchildren. Btw saw your picture on Facebook…you look the same only a little blonder! You look great and happy. Thanks for the reply it was great to hear from you. Oh, address: 5812 NW 21st Ave. Boca Raton FL 33496. Where in CA do you live? We lived in Palm Springs and near Sacramento in the 90’s for ten years.

  13. Hard to believe it’s been almost 40 years. I can remember it like yesterday, getting off work at Nicolosis Italian Restaurant and heading to the Rafters (laughters) to hear Jean sing. I still listen to her green vinyl now and then. She had such a great smile.

  14. I just found this sight! I knew her in Bloomington and rode my motorcycle out to Califorina to see her. She had the smothest voice and was the just the nicest person!

I think she lived next door to Carol and her sister at that time! If you still have her CD left, I would like to get hold of it. I am very glad I found this sight and can hear some of her songs! Thanks!

    1. Hi Bob! We are glad you found us. Thanks for your comment. I’m going to email you to see where we should send a CD. All the best! wil

  15. I met Jean when I worked at KMMT in Mammoth Lakes and later produced a concert in her memory. Her music, memories of our many times together are always with me.

    1. HI Joe!! We definitely remember you and the memorial concert you helped promote. What a wonderful event for our family. Thanks again for your contribution. I hope all is well with you in Mammoth

  16. I would love to get Jeans cd or music. I was a hostess at The Rafters where she played. Besides loving her voice and music she was always so gracious and kind to me. Lovely Jean. I know your spirit is soaring with the eagles.

  17. I did yacht repair in Marina Del Ray back in the ‘70s and have vivid memories of evenings spent listening to Jeanie at the Charthouse. Her energy was infectious, her voice angelic. I used to have a cassette tape of her singing several songs, but it disappeared. I awoke in the middle of the night last night thinking about her and stumbled upon this site. Wow, what a lovely tribute. I’d LOVE to get a CD of her singing. Please let me know how and I’ll do it! She was a rare and special person and talent. ❤️

  18. Hi Wil Mike Copland here. I think of Jean often but especially in August. Her music is always in my playlist and sometimes I share her music with my students. In my mind Jean is at Shenanigans about to play her next set. Are you playing in Tahoe?
